Meet People, Have Fun, and Discover Sarasota!

SNC is geared for people new in town to meet others and have fun!  Created  as a social organization and support network for those recently located to Sarasota, the Club features a monthly calendar with many exciting activities.  SNC members strive to make newcomers to town feel as welcome as possible.

Sarasota Newcomers Club is run by volunteers.  Volunteers are essential to the Club's success.
So, if you are thinking of joining, please look at this list and decide where you can help out.  Many members are  only in the club for 3 years so every one gets to do their part!

1. lead an activity or event

2. host a TGIF cocktail party

3. host a happy hour

4. coordinate a special interest group

5. help out at a luncheon: take names, greet members

6. take photos at the luncheons

7. be on the Board of Directors

Membership is for 3 years  initially, with an optional extension.

After  'graduating' from SNC  our members are ready to leave our special interest groups and activities and form their own groups. Graduated members move on and continue to enjoy a social life outside of the Club, based often on the new friends they've made while members.

There are small groups we call Special Interest Groups (SIGs) for women and men, singles or couples, that provide numerous opportunities newcomers to meet others new to town and enjoy where they live.  Current SIGs include lunch bunches, men's golf and breakfast groups, book clubs,  kayaking, cocktail parties, and monthly Happy Hours.

Our Charitable Side

Turning Points: SNC's Chosen Charity for 2017/2018

Turning Points is a one-stop resource center for preventing and ending homelessness in our community.  The fastest growing population in our community at risk of becoming homeless, are families with children. There are more than 2000 homeless children in Manatee County alone. Turning Points provided services to over 10, 000 clients who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Turning Points provides food, clothing, showers, rental and utility assistance, employment placement assistance, veteran’s services, free medical, dental, and vision care.

Turning Points is a “hands-up” organization designed to help their clients gain and maintain financial stability and independence. Your donations of time, goods, and sponsorship help Turning Points to continue to help those in need.

Volunteers are always needed to support these services. Last year, approximately 42,000 hours of volunteer services were donated to help Turning Points achieve its mission. SNC sponsors several drives to support Turning Points throughout the year. Keep buying raffle tickets at every SNC Luncheon, Half the proceeds of raffle tickets sold at SNC luncheons in a 50/50-style raffle, go to support Turning Points. We welcome volunteers!
